The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 Go to https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fire-safety-england-regulations-2022 (opens new window) made it a legal requirement from 23 January 2023 for responsible persons in high-rise residential buildings to carry out extra monthly checks of essential fire-fighting equipment including lifts within the building that are designed, installed and maintained to be used by fire-fighters (with the addition of evacuation lifts) and of the mechanism which allows fire-fighters to take control of lifts.
The monthly checks are to be recorded in a transparent way that is also accessible to residents.
