Report rubbish that's been dumped on the road, pavement or public land.

On roads, pavements and council owned land

Give us as much detail as possible, for example:

  • the location
  • details of what's been dumped

If you saw the rubbish being dumped, tell us:

  • what the person looked like
  • the vehicle registration, make and model and what it looked like

We aim to clear fly-tipping within three working days from:

  • council owned land, except in parks and play areas
  • public highways
  • public footpaths

It may take longer if lifting equipment is required.

Hazardous or dangerous items will be removed as soon as possible.

On private land

If the fly-tip is on private land it's the duty of the land owner to clear the waste and so may take longer.

Fines

People who fly-tip can get:

  • a fine of up to £50,000 
  • up to five years imprisonment
